CENTRO DE INNOVACIÓN MARINOS | PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
CEE was contracted for consulting on the existing facility in 2020.
CEE evaluated two major obstacles to coral propagation at the existing faciltiy: 1. Current infrastucture was outdated and inefficient. 2. Seasonal Sargassum outbreaks in the lagoon causing elevated Nitrogen and Phosphate loads. CEE drafted a working design for updating infrastructure, including an automated real-time Phosphate monitoring system and bioreactor.
In 2022, new land was acquired to relocate and rebuild the Center. CEE designed the seawater systems and produced architectural drawings for the new facility.
